About us
Finance, with wisdom built in.
FinSage is a cloud-native, IFRS-compliant accounting platform for SMEs and accounting practices — built by FinSphere Solutions in Maseru, Lesotho.
Why FinSage exists
Fin — for finance. Sage — for wisdom. The name is the product thesis: accounting software that doesn't just record history, but understands the rules that shape it.
Running a business in Southern Africa means running it on real constraints: a bookkeeper who also does procurement, an accountant juggling twenty clients, a close that happens in whichever spreadsheet is open at midnight. The accounting rules that govern your numbers — IFRS 16 lease schedules, IFRS 15 revenue, deferred tax — end up living in those spreadsheets: invisible, unmaintained, and reconstructed from scratch every audit season.
FinSphere Solutions started FinSage to change where that knowledge lives. Instead of generic bookkeeping software with compliance bolted on, we encode the standards themselves into the ledger: leases compute their own liability and amortisation schedules, disclosure notes assemble from live data, and every figure on a statement can be interrogated down to the journal that posted it.
We build for two audiences at once — the SME that needs compliance-grade books without a compliance department, and the accounting practice that serves twenty of them and needs delegated work, workflow management and review sign-off that scale. Same ledger, same rules, two sides of one system.
Under the hood it is a React single-page application, a Node.js/Express API, PostgreSQL with per-company schemas, and a Python computation engine for the IFRS 16/15 mechanics. That stack is a means, not a mission: the mission is that nothing in your books should depend on anyone remembering how last year's spreadsheet worked.
What we believe
Four principles we refuse to compromise
Accounting knowledge as code
IFRS 16 lease schedules, IFRS 15 revenue recognition and deferred tax are explicit, version-controlled computation — not hidden spreadsheet logic. Every figure is deterministic, previewable before posting and traceable to the rule that produced it.
Isolated by design
Every company runs in its own isolated database schema. Your ledger physically cannot read another company's books — the boundary is enforced by the database engine itself, not by application discipline.
Industry-aware from day one
Over 30 industry profiles seed a tailored chart of accounts the moment you register — from bakeries and retailers to law and medical practices — with 12 organisation types mapped to the correct equity structure, sole trader to public company.
Built to be understood
Descriptive architecture, structured data and explainable outputs. Your accountant can interrogate every balance down to the journal — and the AI assisting them can reason about the system with the same confidence.
